College of Texas Mediators
History
The College of Texas Mediators was created in 1997 as a Texas
non-profit corporation by mediators from
different backgrounds and professions who had been working for years to
ensure that the
practice of mediation in the state of Texas would not be controlled by
any single group but would remain multidisciplinary and open to many
different types of practitioners. All individuals and organizations who
are members of CTM have traditionally been called Affiliates.
Purpose
The College of Texas Mediators (CTM) exists to:
Educate consumers about mediation.
Guide all mediators and various mediator organizations in devising
voluntary, compatible standards of mediator practice and ethics.
Administer a grievance procedure for consumers of
mediation.
Foster responsible growth of mediation as a profession in the State of
Texas.
Benefits of Affiliation
The College of Texas Mediators
offers Affiliates from all disciplines the opportunity to network with
mediation colleagues from across the state of Texas in order to:
Share information and ideas about the practice of mediation.
Provide leadership, oversight, and review of efforts to regulate
mediators, mediation practice, ethics, grievance procedures, and
training.
Find better ways to serve the public and grow the profession.
Individual and Organization
Affiliation
Individual mediators may join CTM as
Individual Affiliates upon satisfying the requirements of Individual

Texas; or they primarily offer mediation services and related training
to citizens of Texas.
